Anti - Aging Skincare Routine

Hello my loves! I get a TON of questions from my clients about how to best take care of their skin. So I organized some information and included a video link sharing drugstore items you can use to put together a simple, easy to stick with skincare routine!

The Framework

I'm going to start off sharing the 4 pillars of a complete anti-aging skincare routine. (I got this framework from Board Certified Dermatologist, Maren Locke, MD.) For an in-depth explanation of the science behind this skincare, view her video here.

1. Collagen Building - To plump up our skin, and reduce fine lines & wrinkles. -

These would be considered 'Treatment' products. The most common being Retinoids.

Retinoids are generally used at night, because they break down in the sun, making

them unstable and less effective.

2. Protection from UV Damage - Block UV rays that break down our skin's collagen.

These include your SPF products.

3. Skin Barrier Health - To help our skin retain moisture & benefits of our skincare routine.

These mainly include your cleansers and moisturizers. They commonly contain

ceramides and hyaluronic acids.

4. Brightening Our Complexion - To remove dead skin cells & reveal fresh, glowing skin.

These are also considered 'Treatment' products include your exfoliators & resurfacing

products. These can commonly come come in cleanser form.

These products commonly contain Salicylic Acid and or niacinamide.

Vitamin C is also a brightening product, which usually comes in serum form.

The Big Picture

Below I'm going to share the steps to take in order to implement the above 4 pillars into your routine. If you are someone who likes to keep it SUPER simple, I have 2 options for you:

1. You can choose products that are multi-use to cut down on the steps you need to take. For example: You can use a cleanser (Skin Barrier Health) with Salicylic Acid (Brighten Complexion). Or a moisturizer (Skin Barrier Health) with SPF (Protection from UV Damage).

For example: Evening one use a Barrier Health) with Salicylic Acid (Brighten Complexion). Or a moisturizer (Skin Barrier Health) with SPF (Protection from UV Damage). For example: You can use a cleanser (Skin Barrier Health) with Salicylic Acid (Brighten Complexion Treatment). Or a moisturizer (Skin Barrier Health) with SPF (Protection from UV Damage).

2. You can skip step 2 in your morning routine and alternate evening treatments:

For example: Night 1 your treatment would be a Skin Brightening Treatment and Night 2 would be a Collagen Building Treatment. Then continue to alternate every other evening.

The Step-By-Step Routine

Morning

1. Cleanse Skin Barrier Health

2. Treatment - Brightening Complexion

(You can also add a non Retinoid collagen building product)

3. Moisturize Skin Barrier Health / Collagen Building ( Preferably an anti-aging formula)

4. SPF Protection from UV Damage

Evening

1. Cleanse Skin Barrier Health

2. Treatment Collagen Building - This is the best time to use a Retinoid product.

3. Moisturize Skin Barrier Health / Collagen Building ( Preferably an anti-aging formula)
